Call for Entries: the Independent Book Blogger Awards

Goodreads and The Association of American Publishers Trade Division members have recently announced the Independent Book Blogger Awards and will be give four lucky book bloggers a trip to Book Expo America, one of the largest conferences in the publishing industry. The winners of the Independent Book Blogger Awards will have a three-day, all-access pass to Book Expo America in June and will receive free airfare and hotel accommodation in New York City.

 

 

Book Expo America is the largest annual book trade fair in the United States. All the major book publishers make an appearance each year along with well-known authors including Junot Diaz, Stephen Colbert, Charles Frazier, John Lithgow and Jane Lynch.  This year BEA will take place June 5-7 at the Javits Center in New York City.

According to the Goodreads website:

“The Independent Book Blogger Awards highlight the amazing talent in book blogging today. We’re eager to hear from all types of blogs, big and small. The only key qualification is that you write passionately about books!”

Bloggers can submit their blogs into one of four categories: Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Young Adult and Children’s or Publishing Industry. Entrants can submit their blogs using the official entry form until next Tuesday when submissions are closed and the voting begins. Voting is open until April 23 and finalists will be announced May 1. The four lucky bloggers will be named a week later on May 7.

The rules, according to an announcement released by The Association of American Publishers:

“The contest is open to US-based bloggers, at least 18 years of age, who dedicate at least 75 percent of their blog’s written content to coverage of books and the industry and who have posted regularly from February 1, 2011 through February 1, 2012. The blog cannot be affiliated with and not compensated by any commercial or academic publication, but may include those who blog for institutions such as libraries or bookstores with no commercial media ties.”
