Here's My Heart: Prayers

by Ray Hardin

"Some would characterize the prayers of this book as stunning poetry. And that would be an accurate assessment. Still others might describe them as 'occasional' prayers—well constructed petitions that breathe appropriate emotion into those momentous, life-shaping events. Whatever the case, the prayers offered in this beautiful collection are tools: a means for anyone to express and discover the Almighty's mystery, grace, and otherness."

—Pat Bills
Lead Minister, Highland Oaks Church of Christ
from the Forward of Here's My Heart

Ray Hardin graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Bible and studied American Church History and American Literature on the graduate level. He preached for churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Indiana and then worked in residential real estate in Dallas for many years. During much of that time he continued to teach at his local church as well as serve as a resource speaker. For more than 15 years, he counseled and mentored young preachers across the country. In 2011, friends from his home congregation, the Highland Oaks Church of Christ, established the Raymond L. Hardin Endowment for Church Leadership, which is dedicated to training and equipping church leaders. Ray's first collection of prayers, Be Our Strength, was published in 2007.

"There are very few people who are courageous enough to speak directly to God like Ray Hardin does in Here's My Heart. There are even fewer who do so with the love, humility and wisdom as seen in this series of meditations. Drink deeply from the Spirit's movement."

"As you move leisurely through these pages you will come to know and love the heart of Ray Hardin. But more importantly, you are invited to listen in on honest and intimate conversations between a seasoned believer and his 'first love.' As Ray is moving toward the end of his earthly journey, he leaves with us some of his last—and some of his richest—meditations. Ray's prayers have become mine. Maybe they will become yours as well."
