by Kimberly Battle-Walters Denu & Janet S. Walters
From the lives of women who juggle multiple roles, Mothers are Leaders tackles the challenges of being a mother-leader by pinpointing strategies and skills needed to maintain balance.
This book offers readers the opportunity to gain insight, and likely find reflections of their own lives, in the stories and studies within these pages. Author and Editor Kimberly Battle-Walters Denu writes: "Every mother is a leader—whether she is in the workplace or at home. However, those mothers who also lead outside of the home have an opportunity to provide a unique perspective of leadership in the workplace, due to their roles as mothers, and the distinctive attributes and skills that mothers bring."
From the world of academe, ministry, and business, the contributors offer a wealth of knowledge in this arena of study that is breaking open. Their chapters address flexibility, prioritizing, mentoring, strategic leadership, change, nurturing, defining reality, authenticity, and preparation and training.

"The life of a working mother is personally challenging, complex, and rewarding. The authors of Mothers Are Leaders take the joys of motherhood, the conviction of faith, and the rewards of work and intertwine them into a fabric of graceful understanding and encouragement. This book provides insight both to women and the men who work with them."

"I grew up with a mother who was a leader. In our single-parent home, I watched her exhibit crisis-management skills, make wise work/home choices, be a wise spiritual leader, and have a strategy for raising three boys in a very difficult situation. Finally, here's a book that celebrates all those ways I saw my mother lead, as well as the countless mothers today who lead in their homes, careers, ministries, and workplaces. In this must read book from a select group of scholars and leaders, you'll find the research, the heart-grabbing stories, and the life-changing principles that mark mothers as leaders."
